The HMD Crest 5G was announced on 25th July and was launched on 7th August, 2024.
This is a budget Android phone from the price point of view which also offers 5G connectivity for data speed along with other features which I will be taking you through in the coming sections.
The HMD Crest 5G has a dimension of 168.94×76.49×8.26mm, which is quite slim to hold as well as has a bigger display for better viewing.
The phone weighs 201 grams, which is lighter but in comparison to the competition, this one is almost 10 grams heavier, which should not be a big deal but just wanted to make it clear with you if you are very strict on the weight of the phone.
The HMD Crest 5G mobile comes with a screen of 6.67 inches display size which is pretty big enough to enjoy all visual content as well as gaming.
It has a resolution of FHD+ 1080×2400 pixels which is quite similar in comparison to some phones in this price range.
The 90Hz display brings fluidity to the motion motion content in the display which includes scrolling, gaming etc.
The HMD Crest 5G comes with a Unisoc T760 5G chipset which is also found in some of the 5G mobiles like the Moto G35 5G.
This chipset has scored 5,10,000+ score in AnTuTu benchmark app as advertised on the official HMD page here.
The chipset has ARM Mali-G57 MP4 GPU which can give a performance of 274 Gigaflops and is capable of handling very good graphics with a higher FPS.
By default the HMD Crest 5G comes with a built-in 128GB storage. This storage can further be expanded up to a 256GB via a microSD card slot.
The HMD Crest 5G has a dual camera setup having the main camera of 50 megapixels and a 2-megapixel macro lens for close-up shots.
The back camera also has a complementing LED flash to capture better images in the low light conditions.
The front camera is for selfies and video chats which is a 50-megapixel sensor.
In a social media dominating world, camera of the phone is the mostly used hardware and the camera features matter a lot here.
HMD Crest 5G comes with the below camera feature:
The HMD Crest 5G runs on Android 14 and it will get 2 major OS upgrades along with 2 years of security updates on quarterly basis.
AI camera helps you in correcting the color of the image if it is under exposed or over exposed.
The HMD Crest 5G supports the latest as well as all legacy network bands. In addition, it has Wifi, BT and many other means of connecting the phone to the outer world.
It has support for lot of 5G bands such as: n1, n3, n5, and many more are supported. It can operate on SA/NSA modes which gives you even more coverage to the 5G mobile connection support.
The HMD Crest 5G supports Wi-Fi 5 and can operate on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
It supports Bluetooth 5.0 along with BLE for power efficient connection with various audio devices.
In addition, the USB Type-C port is useful for modern day connection with almost all kinds of devices.
In addition, it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack to connect with legacy audio devices.
The inclusion of 5G support makes it future-proof along with the 2 years of OS support.
3.5mm jack gives you the freedom to connect all legacy audio devices, and the freedom of charging the phone while listening to music.
The HMD Crest 5G comes with a 5000mAh battery, which is quite big enough to handle most of the daily tasks including display on time, call, music listening, internet activities etc.
The HMD Crest 5G is competitively priced and placed at the under 15000 market segment.
The HMD Crest 5G is a well-rounded smartphone having 5G support, balanced performance, high resolution camera and display and 2 color options to choose from.
The Unisoc T760 5G is a new chipset which itself was launched in July 2024 so we do not have many 5G mobiles to compared based on the chipset.
But from benchmark point of view, the AnTuTu score of Unispc T760 5G is 5,10,000 and Mediatek Dimensity scored around 4,10,000 which tells a significant difference in performance.
Having the price to hardware spec ratio, honestly we have better options such as the Infinix Note 40x 5G which is priced similar to this phone but you get 108MP, 256GB internal storage and a dedicated card slot along with other features.
If storage is your primary choice then you can choose the Infinix Note 40x 5G which is one of the best phone under 15000 price range, otherwise from the performance perspective, this HMD Crest 5G outperforms in the benchmark score.
If price is a concern for you, then take a look at other 5G phones such as the Infinix Hot 50 5G or the Moto G45 5G which is below the price range of this phone.
